Google Classroom Problems?
If you are still having trouble connecting to Google Classroom with the link to the left, you can still go to Classroom by typing it in the tool bar or going to classroom.google.com. If you are unable to get there this way, please email Mrs. Briley.
Students Printing from Chromebook to Copy Machine…
Students are only allowed to print 15 pages a day. This doesn’t mean 15 pieces of paper. If you have 6 pages to print and print front and back, this still counts as 6 pages even though you are only using 3 pieces of paper. If you need to print more than that (which should be rare), you should share the document with your teacher or with Mrs. Briley for it to be printed.

Interact Writes Winning Grant Proposal
The CHS Interact Club is one of 28 history-making groups that recently won the “Be Peace-Builders” Project Grant. Their project, “Planting for Peace,” was written by Vice President Ayla Keller and Secretary Laney Briley, and involves designing and planting a peace garden in front of the high school. The grant is sponsored by Rotary Club and has the goal to promote peace to students and community. Interact is sponsored by teachers Angie Stirts and Britt Graham.
Mineral Area College Fair
Seniors who want to attend the Mineral Area College Fair need to get a permission slip from Mrs. Miriani. The fair will take place during the day on November 2nd. There will be around 70 colleges in attendance.
Science News
Great news a new element has been discovered – Candium! It’s symbol is Cc, and it has three different isotopes – pumpkins, candy corn, and red hots. Students determined the atomic mass of each isotope of candium, then calculated the average atomic mass based on how often each isotope occurs in their sample.

CHS Students Attend “Build My Future Day”
A group of CHS juniors and seniors had the opportunity this week to attend Build My Future Day in Sikeston. Build My Future Day is a national workforce development initiative to highight careers in the construction industry through hands-on learning opportunities provided by local employers, educators, and skilled trades associtions. Our students partcipated in many activies including these: concrete testing, asphalt paving , virtual welding, heavy equipment operation, surveying, and much more. Our students were all given t-shirts, swag bags, and lunch. Mr. Kyle Mabury, Ag instruction, and Mrs. Tonia Miriani, RootED counselor, attended with our students.
TRC Preview Day
A group of 23 CHS juniors and seniors attended TRC Preview Day as a way to learn more about what TRC has to offer. Students were given an overview of the college which included a presentation with important dates and deadlines. They covered the application process, financial aid, housing application process, and campus activities and clubs. Afterward, they took a tour of the campus. Before leaving, students were given pizza for lunch and participated in a question and answer session. The visit was part of the RootED program led by counselor Tonia Miriani. The of goal of the RootEd program is to to ensure high school students, particularly those in rural communities, have an advisor exclusively focused on helping them achieve success following graduation.
